Support
Something went sideways?
Let’s put the folder back on its tiny rails. Start with the common checks below, then contact support if the issue keeps wearing shoes indoors.
Downloads are not being sorted
Check that Downloads Butler is enabled, then try a small test file such as a PDF or ZIP. If the extension was just installed, reload any active tabs and test a fresh download.
The source website looks wrong
Chrome does not always provide perfect source metadata. Downloads Butler uses available URL/referrer information and can fall back to active-tab context when possible.
A file went somewhere unexpected
Open the Log to see the destination, filename, and reason. Automatic handling should leave a trail, not footprints in wet cement.
I want to handle one file differently
Use a one-time choice for the next download instead of editing your normal Sorting or Rules setup.
My old Downloads folder is already messy
Use Rescue to scan a chosen local folder, preview a cleanup plan, and apply it only when the plan looks right.
Why does the extension need downloads permission?
It is the core permission for the product. Downloads Butler needs it to inspect download metadata and suggest the final filename/folder path before Chrome writes the file.
Still need help?
Email support@downloadsbutler.com. Include your Chrome version, extension version, what you expected, what happened, and whether it involved Sorting, Renaming, Rules, Rescue, or the Log.
