One-time
One-Time Downloads
Handle the next download differently without changing your normal Sorting, Renaming, or Rules setup.
Now
Next download only → Save to Receipts
Then
After that → Return to normal Sorting
The problem
Sometimes one file is the exception. Changing your permanent rules for one weird receipt is too much ceremony for a tiny paper rectangle.
How Downloads Butler handles it
- A one-time choice applies to the next relevant download and then clears itself.
- It has higher priority than sessions, special rules, and the general rule.
- After the one-time action is used, Downloads Butler returns to the normal setup.
What you control
- Set a temporary destination.
- Use it for the next download without altering defaults.
- Keep repeat habits in Rules and short exceptions in one-time choices.
- Avoid turning your settings into a diary of weird Tuesdays.
Practical examples
- Save the next tax PDF to Finance / Receipts.
- Send one file to a client project folder without changing your general downloads setup.
- Handle a temporary file from a normal site differently for one download only.
Local note
One-time choices are stored locally and cleared after use. They do not require server state.
